So one of the fine members of The Well-Trained Mind message boards actually CONSULTED the “Works Cited” in the History of the Ancient World. One of my previous books (The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had) is listed there.
Kind of (as she just pointed out).
Yep, that’s right. It says, The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Need.

Ha! Thanks for allowing us to get a good chuckle … we’re not laughing at you, we’re laughing with you, I promise!
That’s funny – I had noticed it, too, when I got the book last year!
Freudian slip? Or naughty copy-editor? 🙂
That’s hilarious! lol
Surely, a copy editor slipped that one in for kicks.
SURELY.
So the careless copy editor basically just negated your life’s work with one little word? Breathe in, breathe out. Make a phone call. Laugh……eventually.
Although I have to say, it did make me chuckle. 🙂 🙂

PS. Take that page out and frame it!!
Love it!
Oh, that’s painfully funny!
I’m saying,”Oh no!!!” but I’m laughing. I’m sorry. That is so terrible! But if you don’t laugh, what would you do? That’s how I deal with things, anyway. (Although the banging head against the wall is very tempting most of the time)
Do you think that’s an editorial version of a Freudian-like slip?
That’s hilarious! But understandably frustrating.
Isn’t irony (terribly) wonderful?
That’s hilarious! I mean, you know, we all know what you meant… 😉
That’s awesome. At least you’re taking it in stride, though.
I’ll probably wind up picking up that book, by the way. I’m on your History of the Ancient World right now and quite enjoying it.
