  • Danielle Zilly

When I started considering homeschool, I deeply philosophized about education. I came up with a lot of insight, one strong insight I had was that for people to understand anything, they need to understand how it came about; when, where. And also that humanaity’s understanding of science in incomplete, fallable, ever evolving. Really, being confident in solid fact is not something we should ever feel. That is the explanation of why I am so thankful and enthusiastic about this book! I am following the Well Trained Mind for the kids and it is a dream realized for me; a dream I have been consciously aware of since maybe 3, perhaps younger! I am following the Well Educated Mind myself and I am very grateful for it as well. Congrats on your work, Susan I am one of your biggest fans!! I am so impressed and I think you are producing important very educational works that are practical and making lives better!

  • Berber Klaibeda

I absolutely loved your ‘first’ book I read: A History of The Ancient World. I’ve often been described as a walking history book full of obscure facts and ancient anecdotes, so reading it was like reading my doppelgänger! I’ve put the sequels on my wishlist, but I think The Story of Science will join them!

  • Jenny P.

I would love to add this to the Susan Wise Bauer wing of our library. 🙂 Happy New Year!

  • Bryan Castleman

I believe I qualify as an “interested” and hopefully “intelligent non-specialist”. I’ve read the foreword and table of contents, but I’m still wondering more about what fills the book. As far as the historical progression of scientific writing goes, I’m definitely in need of a road map. I find myself being interested in the philosophy of science. Is this book for me ?
