My boys and I loved Story of the World. Would love to see your take on science, too! Thanks for the chance to win. 🙂
I would love an opportunity to see the galleys!! It is always exciting to get a sneak peek!
When I started considering homeschool, I deeply philosophized about education. I came up with a lot of insight, one strong insight I had was that for people to understand anything, they need to understand how it came about; when, where. And also that humanaity’s understanding of science in incomplete, fallable, ever evolving. Really, being confident in solid fact is not something we should ever feel. That is the explanation of why I am so thankful and enthusiastic about this book! I am following the Well Trained Mind for the kids and it is a dream realized for me; a dream I have been consciously aware of since maybe 3, perhaps younger! I am following the Well Educated Mind myself and I am very grateful for it as well. Congrats on your work, Susan I am one of your biggest fans!! I am so impressed and I think you are producing important very educational works that are practical and making lives better!

Sounds ridiculously exciting! I’m adding it to my “must read” list.
Ooh, pick me! I have five children and would get good use out of this.
What an excellent topic for a book! It is a challenging task to sketch, even in broad strokes, so wide ranging a history, but if anyone can bring this off, it is surely you!
We love all the “The Story of the World” books, waiting for the activity book for the “medieval times” and I am curious of this book as well.
I’m woefully ignorant about the story of science and am so excited to read this book!
My sons and I are so excited to read your new book. We have enjoyed your Story of the World series over and over and over…. Looking forward to a new book in our rotation!

We use your history books in our Homeschool, from first grade on up to high school (so thankful for the study guides, btw!) and I would love to add this to our library. 🙂
I absolutely loved your ‘first’ book I read: A History of The Ancient World. I’ve often been described as a walking history book full of obscure facts and ancient anecdotes, so reading it was like reading my doppelgänger! I’ve put the sequels on my wishlist, but I think The Story of Science will join them!
I would love to add this to the Susan Wise Bauer wing of our library. 🙂 Happy New Year!
WHOO HOO!!! Science FTW!!!!
What a great giveaway! Looking forward to reading this. Now if you could just include some of your energy with the giveaway :)!

Soooo wanted these books for my children when they were growing up – but would love to read them myself, too!
This looks lovely!
I can’t wait to read it!
I can’t wait for this. I’ve already added it to my list of books to read this year. Hubby pre-ordered it for me, but I wouldn’t mind putting those funds toward book 2 of your History of the World series instead. 🙂
I am so anxious to read this book!
I believe I qualify as an “interested” and hopefully “intelligent non-specialist”. I’ve read the foreword and table of contents, but I’m still wondering more about what fills the book. As far as the historical progression of scientific writing goes, I’m definitely in need of a road map. I find myself being interested in the philosophy of science. Is this book for me ?
Super excited for this, love and use all your history books!!
Exciting…crossing. my fingers and my toes
I am so excited to read this! There is such a need for quality science texts.

We are really enjoying the Story of the World book with our younger boy. This new book sounds like a perfect book for both boys as they are really into science. Thank you for putting it together!!
As a humanities-oriented person who could use a moral thorough science education, I know I’d appreciate your lucid way of dealing with broad topics. Additionally, it will be a great way to get a better foundation for the philosophy of science type courses I’ll soon be taking in my honours class. Even if I have to wait for the book through the library, I’ll be looking forward to it!
Really excited about this book! Thanks for writing it.

Hi Susan – I have 2 homeschool grads- 1 in college and 1 in application phase. The Well Trained Mind gave me the courage to start the journey 14 years ago. We grew up on your books from the early years. As an empty nester, I’ve been working in the field of promoting STEM Education through project based learning in the schools and afterschool environment – so students can get a taste of the joys of homeschooling in school. I’d love to have a copy to share and use as a resource. Thank you.
My boys and I love The story of the world books and this new book would be a great add to our homeschool curriculum.
Our entire family is excited to read this.
